How to get 8 bands in Speaking

Then read on………… as now I will give you some tips and tricks to crack the speaking test with Flying colors.

Confidence– This is most important while giving speaking test. There is no right or wrong in speaking test, hence make sure that whatever you say, you say with confidence. The evaluator’s wants to check how confident you feel while conversing in English.

Paraphrasing- You can always paraphrase the examiner to check if what he means to say and what you have understood is same and you are on the same page, especially in task-3.

Clarify- ‘There is no such rule that you cannot ask question to the examiner’. If you are in doubt, or did not understand any question or any given instruction you can always ask for clarification. It’s always better to ask than answering incorrectly.

Listen- To become a successful speaker you need to be a patient listener as well. Listen to every questions carefully especially for task number 1 and 3.

Natural Fillers– It’s absolutely ok to use natural fillers like- hummm, ok, well, actually, so, you know etc. These can help you to be more expressive while answering.

Never memorize- it is always better to stick to the fact. When answering a question, do not try to impress the examiner by giving prepared information. This may lead you to trouble.

Vocabulary- Going through long word lists does no good at all to improve your ‘active vocabulary’. Active vocabulary is what you can remember and use on a frequent basis while conversing and writing. Thus, a better approach would be to keep a repository of phrases and genre specific vocabulary and refer to them every time you practice a mock speaking test.However it is just ok if you stick to simple English rather than using fancy words.

Be Relevant- while you are answering any question be very specific and coherent. It is very easy to shift from one topic to another, so its important that you align your thoughts before answering, especially for task-2.

Practice- Practice! Practice! Practice! This is the ultimate key to success. Keep practicing speaking with any partner. This can help you boost your confidence.🙏🏻
